How does breastmilk guide an infant’s immune system development to build life-long protection against food allergies?
Immunological Reviews invited global expert Prof. Valerie Verhasselt, Director of the Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Centre for Immunology and Breastfeeding at The University of Western Australia, to share her knowledge.
“The content of breastmilk, influenced by maternal genetics and environmental exposures, prepares the infant's immune system for the outside world, including solid foods,” she writes.
