A mother’s attitude can be a powerful predictor of breastfeeding outcomes.
Now for the first time, a standard questionnaire is available for German-speakers. But is it reliable?
Yes, says the research team at the Family Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Center for Neurodevelopment, Growth, and Nutrition of the Newborn (LRF NGN), University Hospital Zurich, University of Zurich.
They were able to validate the German translation of the Iowa Infant Feeding Attitude Scale questionnaire in a study with 353 mothers living in Switzerland.
Their findings were just published in the International Breastfeeding Journal. Care to learn more?

“I am glad that this tool is now provided in German and can be used by clinicians, caregivers and researchers,” says LRF NGN Director, Professor Giancarlo Natalucci.
This study was part of a larger study in Switzerland on early child nutrition, child development and parenting behavior, during 2022.
FLRF is a proud supporter of the authors and their work at the LRF NGN.
