Für eine stillfreundliche Schweiz

2022 18 Project FLRF

Mit der ZHAW Departement Gesundheit und der Unterstützung von FLRS hat die Schweiz „Becoming Breastfeeding Friendly (BBF): A Guide to Global Scale Up“ ins Leben gerufen, um die Stillumgebung zu bewerten und zu verbessern.

Trotz der Empfehlung der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO), Säuglinge in den ersten sechs Monaten ausschliesslich zu stillen, beträgt die durchschnittliche Stilldauer in der Schweiz nur 12 Wochen (Gross et al., 2014; WHO, Online).

Die Daten zeigen auch, dass das nationale Stillumfeld an Stärke zu verlieren scheint. Eine von der ZHAW im Auftrag von UNICEF Schweiz durchgeführte Studie dokumentierte einen Rückgang der als „Baby Friendly Hospitals“ zertifizierten Schweizer Krankenhäuser (Dratva et al., 2022).

In der Umfrage der World Breastfeeding Trend Initiative (WbTi) in 100 Ländern belegte die Schweiz mit nur 48 von 100 möglichen Punkten den 71. Die nationale Still-Situation wurde als verbesserungswürdig eingestuft und es wurden politische Massnahmen und Programme gefordert (WBTi, 2020).

Diese Ergebnisse unterstreichen den dringenden Handlungsbedarf zur Verbesserung der Stillumgebung und zur Förderung des Stillens.

Hauptziele des Projekts

  • Durchführung einer systematischen Analyse zur Messung der Stärke und Schwächen der nationalen Stillumgebung

  • Ermittlung von Lücken, in denen Massnahmen erforderlich sind, um eine stillfreundliche Umgebung zu schaffen

  • Entwicklung von Empfehlungen zur Erweiterung der Stillrichtlinien und -programme

  • Entwicklung konkreter Massnahmen zur nachhaltigen Steigerung der Stillraten

Die evidenzbasierte BBF-Initiative wurde von Prof. Rafael Perez-Escamilla und seinem Team an der Yale School of Public Health mit Unterstützung des FLRS entwickelt. BBF wurde in acht Ländern umgesetzt, wobei jetzt die Schweiz folgt.
